A revolutionary night race is at the heart of an exciting calendar for the 2010 Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship. The eight-event series also includes the championship’s first ever trip to Belgium, the return to Knockhill after a break of two years and two events at Mallory Park which successfully hosted the final round of the 2009 British Rallycross Championship.
The night race will be held at Blyton in Lincolnshire on June 12 and form the third round of the championship. Racing is planned to start on Saturday afternoon and continue into the evening, making the most of the summer daylight. “I’ve wanted to try a night race for a year or two and competitors in the championship are eager to try something new,” said British Rallycross Championship promoter Amy Doran, “The night race is something dramatic a new for the championship and I have exciting plans to make the event into a great experience for fans and racers. There are going to be some changes and improvements to the track at Blyton and we will provide all the facilities necessary for a British championship event.”
The ‘Devil’s Hill Circuit’ at Maasmechelen in Belgium ran the first night time Rallycross as a part of its 20th anniversary celebrations in 1990. Next year, the 40th at the Belgian track, the British championship will make its first appearance in Belgium where round four will take place on July 11.

The Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship (BRC) also features two events at Lydden, these taking place on the circuit’s long established Rallycross race dates, Easter Monday and August Bank Holiday Monday. After two years absence Scotland returns to the BRC where round two will be run at Knockhill. Reintroduced as the venue for the final round of the 2009 championship after a break of 30 years, Mallory Park will host two rounds of the BRC which will reach its conclusion at Pembrey in October, the first time the Welsh venue has staged the series finale.

Events in the Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship have a full supporting programme which features the RX150 ‘off-road buggies’, Junior Rallycross and the new Suzuki Swift one-make series as well as the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship. The BRC will continue to be broadcast by Motors TV. Following successful live broadcasts from two rounds of the 2009 championship, the specialist channel again plans to cover some events live in 2010.
